Awesome!
Enjoy your new track, what’s next – a drag Strip?
Gary
Nice report Porsche 911. I’m relieved that some one else can deliver a punch to your scenery besides myself.
Gary “The Slasher”
I’d say you got it right. Very nice.
Our Grand Wizard is a step ahead of the 1:1 scale IROC series. Apparently Ray Evernham (famed Nascar Crew Chief to Jeff Gordon) has bought the rights to IROC and will revive the races.
Neat! Back around 1967-68, I had a 1/24 Wheel Stander slot car. I believe it was a Garvic.
It had a 36D sidewinder setup with a drop arm and as soon as you hit the throttle, the front end would
lift up. It was a novelty car, not for serious racing.
Excellent job Mr 911 !
Hey Ken, is that your Camaro by the Church? Seasons Greetings to everyone from our new home in Whitby!
Gary
Love the paint job, what is the colour?
That’s what I call “Slammed”.
Sharp looking Vega! The paint job looks like something Starsky and Hutch may have laid down on their ride.
Looking at the Goodwood track makes me think about its owner, the late John Flinn. He was one of the good guys and is truly missed.
LOL, Good one Ken!
The Flew The Coop car is hilarious! Can’t wait to see it in person, the owner lives in my neck of the woods.
Is that Colonel Sanders I see driving?
This would fit the TA+ class – yes?
A very important person in the early days of Slot Car racing in the Toronto area was the late George Maxwell (originator of the Mini Grid store). In the 1960’s, he had a Slot Car track in his home called Maxport. As a young boy, I would read about all the racing that took place there in Car Model magazine. His track was also featured in a Macleans magazine article, can you imagine our hobby gets mentioned in a popular national magazine?
George also raced a 1:1 car and it happened to be a Datsun 510.
Porsche 911, I’m not sure how often I could make the trek out there but Saturdays work for me.
The decals are from Indycals (non winning Indy 500 cars). I happened to have the right Tamiya Spray paint colour so I thought why not?
The KRZ chassis made the build a lot easier. I didn’t even attempt to scratch build a brass/piano wire for this one.
I’m still in awe when I look at Art’s brass masterpiece.
Yes, I think it is time to change the Modern F1 Class and by opening it up, it still allows those who have Scaley cars to run them.
Change is difficult but the newer cars (Policar, NSR) does provide a more sturdy platform and hopefully less breakage in crashes.
Kudos to R32 for bringing this up and hopefully making it happen.
Holy Cow, 6 classes in one day! We will certainly get our fix of racing.
Gary
The new wheel inserts has completely changed the look of the car. Looks great!
What a great video, love that body lean!
I was not aware of this movie so I just finished watching it. I noted that it was directed by Roger Corman, known for doing B Movies.
What struck me was The Young Racers starts off at Monaco, just like Grand Prix. The other thing was the race announcer sounded like the same one in Grand Prix. I wonder if John Frankenheimer took clues from The Young Racers and with a big budget, spiced it up to produce what some consider one of the best racing movies.
I would like to add one more comment. This was my first season racing with the R32 Club and I really enjoyed it. From meeting new Racers to running on tracks I was not familiar with, it was an excellent experience.
Thanks Art for putting up with us, organizing, and writing race reports.
Hope everything is okay F1Nutz.
Gary
Very nice, looks like a fast track which I like!
Gary
Forget about the painting, just look at that scenery in the background! Hope you had a relaxing time up north.
Gary
Art, we appreciate the effort to put on these races for us lucky folk!
As they say in NASCAR – it was one of those racing deals. No problem with me.
Very enjoyable event, thanks JMSracer!
I remember being in the room before there was a track and I must say the transformation is amazing! Love the pictures on the wall.
There was some amazing battles on the track, very entertaining. Congrats to Sheldon for some very clean and smart driving – Welcome to R32!
Thanks for the tip Porsche 911.
Gary
That’s the picture. Nice looking pit crew!
So I was searching for the image of Pete Lovely unloading his Lotus with the help of his wife and could not find it. Then I realized I Googled John Love instead of Pete Lovely.
Lovely, Love, Luv – easy mistake, it got me!
The image of Pete Lovely’s VW transporter brings back memories. I recall seeing a picture in a Race Magazine unloading the Lotus for a Continental Race (Formula 5000) with his wife helping out.
It must have been tricky loading the car backwards on to the VW bed. The rear tires look to be hanging over the edge.
Another excellent day of racing.
Gary
A bunch of us got to see the final version last night and it is a stunning model. Should be a best seller.
Just another reason to race at MVL. You get to race your Slot Cars on a wonderful track and see Real Cars like these in the building.
Gary
Hey Porsche 911:
Thanks for hosting the race and sorry about the “earthquake” I caused. That building did move quite a bit.
Scarborough Slasher
Longtime R32 member F1nutz has been ahead of the curve racing a modified Polistil Shadow. Adding in Arthur’s DArt resin Ferrari 612 provides variety in the Can Am class along with the usual McLaren and Lola’s.
Looks like a full size Shadow, not 1/32 scale. Sweet!
Gary
Thanks Art for another fine day of racing. Also thanks to resident R32 Historian MIA for informing me on his Ferrari “Uovo” as raced in the Sports Car class. What an interesting car!
Gary
You were the outstanding one driving the truck without a lap of practice. It was the first time out for the Mercedes; it was never raced in anger until you took it on to the track.
Hey KRZ:
You’ve got the horsepower and torque but you don’t hit the walls!
I have looked at the Betta and Classic site off and on but never pulled the trigger. Now that you are placing an order, I will go in with you.
No interest in the Lexan bodies, the Classic hard bodies have my interest!
Another one in the books. This is the Best Venue for a Slot Car track (other than the late JRF’s summer home), I cannot think of another place to top MVL.
Another excellent morning of racing with great friends. So I learned a new word (neuroplasticity) at the previous race, now I expanded my knowledge about the Radio business.
January 21, 2023 at 7:36 am in reply to: Riverhampton Photo Collage for Thursday January 19, 2023 #32810Slot Car racing is such a wonderful hobby. We get to build and race them along with expanding my vocabulary with new words like “neuroplasticity”.
Racing backwards has made me realize my neurons are not firing on all cylinders.
I like it! Who doesn’t love a Porsche of any kind?
Another DArt masterpiece with elevation changes you don’t notice until you stand at the end of the track. What a pleasure to race on it.
Not only do I envy you having a track, now I wish I had a proper work area. My workbench is my office desk, my parts are in boxes in different rooms, and my cars are in a bedroom closet.
Thanks Art and MVL for hosting the monthly races. Such a beautiful venue, nothing better out there.
What a way to ring in the New Year. Slot Car racing on Jan 1st!
These guys are crazy!! Looks totally safe racing down a mountain road with stone lined tunnels, Armco barriers, stone walls, and buildings right by the road.
WOW.
Looks great! The chassis fooled me. I thought it was a black 3D chassis at first until Luis mentioned it was brass.
Happy Holidays everyone.
Looking good KensRedZed!
So that’s how you do it! I’ve often wondered how you repaired a section of copper tape.
December 11, 2022 at 3:18 pm in reply to: The 1954 Pegaso Z102 Cabriolet Saoutchik 2a Serie Street #30827That car looks too pretty to race!
I agree with Ken. The Revo Mono #sheet seems to be the best of the ones I have tried.
Those Decals you printed look really good. I like the car too!
Looks like the Willy’s is going to do a wheelie! I think you’ve got the right body angle.
The Boss has let me out to play, I can race!
Gary
Another great day at a great track. Thanks Arthur!
WOW!!
This looks really interesting!
Great day of racing with a great group!
It is such a privilege to race on this beautiful DArt track. A big thank you to MVL and Art for hosting the monthly event.
Very happy to see Ken come out. You have gone through a huge rough patch, wishing you smooth sailing from now on!
That looks great!
I will hesitantly join in but it would be nice to know what car we will be using.
Thanks Art for all your efforts organizing and running the race. Always appreciated!
Looking good Ken. Bet you can’t wait to turn some laps with your KRZ chassis cars!
Hey Z28, since you were/are into RC planes how about your street name “Miramar” Motorsport Park? A salute to the original Top Gun base.
Thanks Porsche911! That’s a beautiful track you have there.
A fractured quote from Sir Jackie Stewart “ What a great day for miniature motor car racing”.
I’m speaking from the Cone Of Silence – “VERY NICE BILL !!!”
Some Watson Roadsters had a new life as Super Modified race cars ( raced mostly in the Southern Ontario and North East US) once the Rear Engine revolution took hold. Believe it or not, this car was a Watson that I believe Roger Ward use to run. I had the pleasure of seeing this race car in action at the old Pinecrest Speedway north of Toronto. This image was taken at Oswego Speedway in New York state, home of the Super Modifieds.
Awesome!
Art, we appreciate all the effort put into organizing and running the event!
So I’m guessing these are 1/32 plastic models. Any idea who the manufacturer is?
Gary
Great cockpit detail!
I just noticed the “smoke” rising from the back end of the upside down Honda – great detail!
Gary
Oh No!
A wonderful time with a great bunch of guys.
Thanks Art!
G
That’s some fine craftsmanship Felix!
Thanks Art for organizing the event. It was a privilege to finally experience the famous MVL – looking forward to the next race.
Gary
I like it, l like it!
Really like the colour. It looks appropriate to the era.
Gary
Very NICE! I love seeing the vintage stuff being brought back to life.
That turned out beautiful. Rufus would be proud!
WOW !! Beautiful work on the chassis and body by the Maestro.
The build looks great. It has the “look” of a 1:1 tube frame chassis of the era.
Gary
F1 Nutz:
A copy of the file would be nice or posting it as Art suggested is fine also.
Hey F1 Nutz:
Great looking car. Is this a Dart body and did you print your own decals ?
I realize that Luis has posted this info on another thread – sorry about that.
