R32 LXXVI @ MVL

Cut and fertilize your lawn, drain your outdoor taps, put away the garden hose, stack and store your patio chairs and dig out that snow shovel for what’s to come but don’t forget that R32 returns to MVL Leasing for continuing door handle to door handle racing fun in October! Get your 1960-1965 1.5L Grand Prix (15LGP), Group C/IMSA (GCI), 3.0L LeMans (3LM), Modern LeMans Prototype & GT (LMP), NASCAR (NC) and 1950’s Endurance Sportscar (50SP) models ready!

Notice that we’ve added a sixth class (or race) and we’re changing our routine so that we go from slow to fast and then back to slow. The math says that we can easily accommodate a sixth class (for up to 7 racers) without reducing the lengths of our heats and still have 15 minutes in between classes. But not everyone will want to race all 6 classes for any number of reasons – whether to pace yourself by sitting out a few races or you don’t have a car ready yet or you might have to leave early or you just want to watch/marshal the action first – it doesn’t matter. There will be no cap on total attendees either. This should be a win/win for everyone. As always, time will tell.

This race day is open to current Scratch32 members only. Advance registration is not required – simply show up with models for the classes listed below.

CLASSES:

  • 1960-1965 1.5L Grand Prix (15LGP)
  • Group C/IMSA (GCI)
  • 3.0L LeMans (3LM)
  • Modern LeMans Prototype & GT (LMP)
  • NASCAR (NC)
  • 1950’s Endurance Sportscar (50SP)

SCHEDULE:

  • Doors Open @ 10am – Timed Practice
  • Green Flag @ 10:30am
  • Classes will be raced in the order listed above
  • Checkered Flag @ 2:45pm

FORMAT:

  • European rotation. Finish result will seed subsequent race rotation position
  • 3 minute heats (180 seconds) x 4 (lanes) for a total of 12 minutes per race
  • 3 or more marshals for every heat (if numbers permit)
  • ‘Race to line’ result will determine finishing order
  • Final race scoring will be posted with reference to car number (not pilot) and accompanying photographs will include cars in finishing order

DON’T FORGET YOUR CONTROLLER!

Make sure your controller is in tip top shape and that your brakes function reliably! All R32 tracks require the use of three pole positive polarity controllers. Banana plugs are highly recommended but alligator clip hookups work just as well.

Please park on Industry St. or in the small parking lot on the west side of the building or at the back.

DArt CLUB SERIES URETHANE TIRES ONLY – NO EXCEPTIONS!

Please note that as per our R32 class criteria ALL rear tires must be DArt brand Club Series Urethane Tires, without exception. Front tires may be either stock or DArt Club Series Urethane Tires. If you need DArt Club Series Urethane Tires you can order them here or email DArt here.

Class Criteria

1960-1965 1.5L Grand Prix

  • Eligible Models: Any provided the model represents a Grand Prix car which competed between 1960 and 1965. Cars produced in or prior to 1962 constitute Group 1 cars and cars produced thereafter constitute Group 2 cars
  • Motor: BWA BWMS050
  • Wheels – Not exceed 14mm in diameter AND:
    • Group 1 wheels must be no more than 6mm wide
    • Group 2 wheels must be no more than 7mm wide
  • Tires:
    • Rear – Any DArt Club Series Urethane Tire
    • Front – Any Stock or DArt Club Series Urethane Tire
  • Overall maximum width of 50.8mm

Group C (GCI)

  • Eligible Models: Any Slot.It brand inline Group ‘C’ or ‘IMSA’ model;
  • ‘Stock’ parts only or identical plastic/resin replacements;
  • Motor: ‘Stock’ White or Orange endbell Slot.It motor;
  • Rear Tires: DArt Club Series D11 or SI0201 Urethane Tires;
  • Minimum overall weight of 80g;
  • Optional modifications: Any Slot.It parts that come standard on any currently eligible model may be used or incorporated into older eligible models (ie. offset pods and offset crown gears, larger diameter wheels, screws with metal washers, set screws and spacers for aligning front axles, etc.). Any aftermarket washers permitted.

3.0L LeMans (3LM)

  • Eligible Models: Any hard body open cockpit prototype that competed between 1972 through 1977 in an endurance race such as LeMans (as raced with headlights)
  • Rear Tires: DArt Club Series (NC0101 or D11 recommended)
  • Front Tires: Stock or any DArt Club Series
  • Working head/tail lights NOT required

Modern LeMans P/GT (LMP)

  • Eligible Models: Any hard body modern (1995 or newer) era model that competed at Le Mans regardless of designation or class
  • Rear Wheels: Minimum 14mm diameter (or larger)
  • Rear Tires: DArt Club Series (D11 recommended)
  • Front Tires: Stock or any DArt Club Series
  • Working head/tail lights NOT required

NASCAR (NC)

  • Eligible Models: Scalextric brand Sidewinder NASCAR (Car of Yesterday or Car of Tomorrow);
  • Stock parts only or identical plastic/resin replacements;
  • Rear Tires: DArt Club Series SC0705 Urethane Tires;
  • Front Tires: Stock Front Tires or DArt Club Series SC0705 urethane tires.

1950’s Endurance Sportscar (50SP)

  • Eligible Models or Hard Bodies: Any 1950’s era Sportscar (production or prototype) that competed in an endurance race between 1950 and 1959 lasting at minimum 6 hours, 1000 kilometers or over multiple stages spanning several days;
  • Low Power Motor: BWA BWNC1, Ninco NC1, Ninco NC8, BWA BWMS050 or Vanski FF050;
  • Front and Rear Tires: Any DArt Club Series Urethane Tires;
  • Maximum width of body not to exceed 57mm;
  • Minimum overall weight of 75g.
