    It doesn’t get any simpler than this for those of you who just want to go fast with any ready to run NSR, Slot.It or other manufacturer’s model or build your own to race – any motor, any chassis, any configuration and hardly any rules – a mandatory marked tire will keep it fair but the rest is up to each of you. Want to race your NSR out of the box just with tires? Go for it. Want to tune the crap out of your NSR? Go for it. Want to build your own torsion or rattle pan chassis? Go for it. Want to race your hand wound motor? Go for it. Don’t want to read too many rules? Great! Can’t read? Don’t worry… Like to argue over rules? Too bad – nothing to argue about here… Almost anything goes.

    Simple Rules & Guidelines

    1. Open to any Prototype (P) or Sportscar (S), regardless of displacement, that competed between 1966 and 1971 in any endurance race which was part of the World Sportscar Championship or International Championship sanctioned by the FIA. By endurance race we mean a race lasting many hours (ie. 24, 12, 6) or over a large distance (ie. 1000k). Headlights are not a requirement (if the model raced did not have them) nor must headlights be functional.
    2. Bodies must be hard plastic/resin with period appropriate (actual or fantasy) livery. No two entries may have the same race number. Race numbers will be reserved or assigned (see below).
    3. Interiors may be made from any material. There is no minimum level of detail required by either a body or interior but attention to detail will always be appreciated.
    4. Rear tires must be marked Darts for this event/series and will be available in the following sizes: D11, SI0201 (or NC0102) and NC0101.
    5. This event is open to any adult with an eligible model and controller.
    6. Any model that compromises the track for others in any way will not be permitted or will be removed from the track.

    Reserving Your Race Number & Purchasing Marked DArts

    One (1) number may be reserved or will be assigned (absent a request) for each pair of marked DArt tires purchased up to a maximum of 3 per participant regardless of how many pair of marked DArts are purchased by anyone. Numbers will be reserved or confirmed upon receipt of payment (pickup may be on a later date or even at the event). The deadline to purchase your DArts (or reserve your racing number(s)) will be midnight the day prior to the event. Multiple models may qualify but only the top entry for each participant will advance. NO loaners or substitutions after qualifying has begun and all models will be impounded from that point on.

    Contact me to order/purchase your marked DArt tires by email: [email protected].

    NEW Format:

    All models must either qualify or advance through elimination heats to make it to the A main for a chance to win or place in this event/series. Starting position will be assigned by random draw and all participants will have an opportunity to qualify for or advance all the way to the A main. Since this is FREE there will be no guaranteed minimum number of minutes raced. The number of participants will dictate the exact format chosen.

    More Information, including a list of reserved (or available) race numbers, will be found below. Right now, all numbers, including three digit numbers, are available.

    Looking forward hopefully this can become a series hosted at other tracks too, perhaps on a monthly basis. For now we will start next Friday here at The Ring… :good:

    Please spread this link around to everyone who you believe may wish to participate regardless of with whom or where they raced in the past or present. Everyone is welcome.

      Thanks to all of our participants for a wonderful evening of spirited and very fast racing involving both plastic and scratch built models. For their effort everyone took home a souvenir poster for the event.    :good:

        A benefactor has approached the Ecurie Lyons team offering generous sponsorship, under the proviso they number at least one of their entries #2, therefore, management has elected to rescind #24, and would like #2 added in it’s place.

        There is a lot of information provided to those that log in to access it. The “racelaptimes” report from the first heat is very interesting – it reveals much more than I thought even after racing in some of those heats. Fascinating!

        Later on… what the lap times reveal for one competitor is that the floor did not slow the car down – the set screw worked its way loose much later on which did… interesting…

        I will avoid wordplay temptation regarding the name of choice for the trophy, however it is very hard… 😉 But yes, very fun evening, as always!

        Spa Lyons will look forward to hosting a similar event in the near future, also on a Friday evening.  As such, Team Ecurie Lyons would like to reserve # 2 for entry,  car(s) yet to be determined if the stewards shall allow.

        Danke, Merci, and thank you

            To complete filling in the chart, #11 is a Porsche 917 as raced at the 1000km of Monza in 1970  by David Piper & Tony Adamovicz. It is red with silver rockers.

              Really looking forward to the event! And perhaps I’ll require a software ‘bracket tutorial’ at some time. :scratch:

            • #5573

              I’ve spent a great deal of time trying to figure out the ‘bracket’ provisions within SlotTrak. They automate ANY race format once understood.

              So we will seed entries by qualifying and then let the ‘bracket’ dictate the event. I did several ‘test’ setups…

              Qualifying results seeded everyone into the first mixed order. The rotation is unlike anything we’ve done in scratch32 or R32 – it is set so that everyone races everyone else at least once every rotation. Then we mix it up and re-order everything in the next rotation. After both rotations the TOTAL result of both rotations determines who travels to the B main and the A main.

              Total race time for everyone, excluding qualifying, is 45 minutes – more than during a typical 4 class race night…. sound good?

              If our number of participants drops to 5 or increases to 7 then I’ll adjust the ‘bracket’…

              As promised, here is the list of reserved racing numbers. First come, first served. If a number(s) is taken just change the number on your model. How you do that I leave up to you. I’ve seen some very creative ways to modify racing numbers over the years so don’t make this more complicated than it needs to be… even if you can’t make it out to this first event you should still get your tires and reserve your number(s) since this list will apply to all future races of this type.

              Since there were no conflicts all of the changes were fine and noted in the data sheet above for Porsche911. A number change also for MiA. But why not qualify two cars??? Jimbo added two entries/numbers. Everything up to date as of now. It looks as though we will have the perfect number of participants – 6.

              So far our participants are (in no particular order):

              • Jimbo;
              • Porsche911;

                It is with deep sadness that the Ecurie Lyons team must withdraw the Werks Porsche 908 #17 for this event, due to mechanical issues, likely unsolved by time of competition. However, the generosity of Henry Ford the umpteenth will allow Blue GT40II #6, Red GT40II#24, and Green GT40 #40 to participate in this event if the stewards allow.

                A marked tire is essential to the simplicity of this exercise but for this first event we can relax that requirement provided every car still has a DArt rear tire. Anyone who presents a car with another tire to race will not be permitted to race and will not be invited back. This may sound harsh but experience has hardened my position on this. So if anyone is in doubt, mount a set of DArts to be sure or just don’t bring that car. Future events will require the marked tire so for some it may be wise to get their tires beforehand especially if they are unsure. Those who pre-pay for their tires will have their chosen racing number(s) reserved.
